Every song needs a “thing” to sing about, whether they are your favourite things, or things you never want to see again. Things are important, and for some songs, so important that “the thing” is the title.
This countdown celebrates the most successful singles on the Australian charts since 1950 that have a “The _______” title, with the blank being one single word. Songs with a sub-title in brackets count, as long as the main title fits the theme. I have also allowed songs that repeat the theme perfectly (eg. “The ____, The ____” ), as long as there are no other words involved (eg. “The ____ And The ____ ” is ineligible).
